Standard City Guide: Brisbane
What do you love about the city?
I love the surrounding suburbs to the city (New Farm, Teneriffe), the old converted warehouses, and the river. Oh and the little Queenslander houses.
Most inspiring stores, spaces, galleries:
- Apartment Store in the city will serve you a collection of heritage streetwear brands
- Showroom will provide you with Australian homewares
- Winn Lane is a secret little laneway, always good for a peruse and some food.
- Queensland Art Gallery for a good bit of culture.
Secret eating/ drinking spots:
New Farm farmers market, which is on a Saturday. It has every type of food and you can sit by the river.
A good cocktail at Sixes and Sevens on James Street or an arvo wine down at WATT (under the Powerhouse) on the water.
Best coffee:
Little Loco in New Farm.
Local stores (vintage, interiors, beauty, pharmacy?):
Mary Ryan’s Bookstore in New Farm have an amazing little design section.
What was in your suitcase?
Swimwear (most places have a pool as it gets very hot), a book to read in New Farm Park and your drinking hat –Brisbane loves a good craft beer. Sneakers – you walk so much in Brisbane.
Anything you wished you’d packed but didn’t:
In summer, less clothes. In winter, more. I never get it right.
Handbag essentials:
A good pair of sunglasses.
Airline?
Being in Sydney it’s a very short flight so any is fine.
