Insight: Universal Works And Their Sock Maker
Ever wondered how Universal Works produce their socks?... We have, and were delighted to find out they support and work with a family owned business, run today by 4th and 5th generation descendants of the original owner.
They're handmade in Loughborough on a small-scale production, and if you've got a pair, you know they pay attention to small detail.
Each of Universal Works woolen and cotton socks have been manufactured in England using traditional techniques called hand linking. This method is both time consuming and expensive, but worth it. This design process creates a seamless, flat finish for comfort and durability.
