Q+A With Lauren Webster - The Standard Store

Q+A With Lauren Webster

by Sam Nowell

Lauren Webster of Lauren & The Lost Boys recently returned to paint our Surry Hills window for the month of Lurrve.

She was told when she was younger not to mix Red and Pink and were pretty stoked that she didn't listen.

Come and say Hi this February to our Surry Hills Store to see the Red and Pink flower extravaganza, and below is a quick fire and answer Q&A with Lauren.

What was the inspiration behind the window you recently painted for us in our Surry Hills Store.

The artwork in the window is inspired by my Limited Edition 'Heartbreaker' Silk Scarf, which features artwork elements you'll often see repeated in my work. I specifically chose the Rose and the heart to fit in with The Standard Store's Month of Love and their motto 'A Little Bit Of Love Goes A Long Way'.

Any up and coming projects you're excited about and where can we expect to see them?

I just teamed up with a really talented Australian Jeweller to create the Marina Antoniou X Lauren Webster capsule collection called 'The Lost Galaxy'. Its a collection inspired by outer space, made in solid gold with precious stones.

For this series, I painted a range of constellations, comets, stars and asteroids and worked closely with Marina to transform these painted elements into fine jewellery. We've created a beautiful collection of necklaces and earrings and since the launch, I haven't been able to take them off!

You'll be able to find these on my website and on Marina's here.
